Why acid catalysed aldol condensation is slower than the base catalysed??

Cuz aldol condensation takes place through enol formation and in acidic medium enol formation is very slow

I think this will easily clear to you.
In acid catalysed reaction, the nucleophile is water and in base catalysed reaction, hydroxyl ion is the nucleophilic.Water uses the lone pair on oxygen to behave as nucleophile whereas hydroxyl uses negative charge on oxygen.
Now things become easy. Lone pair donation is obviously faster than the donation of negative charge.
Remember, water is not a very good nucleophile because lone pair donation would lead to positive charge in the highly electronegative oxygen atom.
But loss of charge by any species is always favored as it leads to stability.
