Ok it's time to get it straight.
People who are saying that instructions are the utmost priority , answer this -
- it is mentioned '7.00' as an example in instructions . Let's assume I imagined it to be approximation of '7.003' and thought integers are to be written as integers.
If any of you remember ncert chemistry 1st chapter of 11th class it is mentioned that whole numbers can be represented with infinite number of zeroes or with none , making no difference.
2)Truncated and rounded off are different in meaning entirely , I don't know how this didn't come up in discussions .
- people pointing towards the fact that if it was an omr it would make the decimal notation necessary and eliminate all other answers as incorrect. To those, you all need to understand that it was online .
During the exam , I also tried typing numbers like 12342.14552234 ( any thing random not following rules ) and it was being accepted . Had it been an omr , space would have been provided till two decimal points which we all would have filled ( in my opinion , each and every one of us)
4)You people are neglecting the rule that
"2.5×1.25 = 3.125
Since 2.5 has two significant figures, the
result should not have more than two
significant figures, thus, it is 3.1."
(Took it directly from ncert)
Let's take an example,
You got an answer 8500 J/mol with mentioned information in the question like 'ln2=0.7'
And 'RT= 2500 J/mol' then writing it as 8500.00 is AGAINST THE RULES.
And most importantly , let's keep our differences in thoughts aside, Even if the ruling would have been applied on our respective results , then most of our college scenarios would be different . We would feel bad , curse the authorities and finally move on , looking into other colleges like bits.
But after everything has been done and other counsellings have been closed down , this would be a big blow to a lot of kids out there.
If you agree or disagree with any point please let me know on the comments.
