See inductive effect is a very poorly defined effect. Many books like Clayden and all although they might touch upon it here and there they won’t get into much depth. It’s coz Inductive effect has no effect after high school.
Like how stupid does carbon pumping e- (+I effect of methyl) sound? I bet most of us haven’t questioned this in class.
That is why we say resonance>hyd>inductive depending upon how old it is. Resonance and hyperconjugation have scientific reasons and are also not solid theories. Like resonance cannot explain aromaticity etc.
