1.) How this is a complete question since metals can shiw multiple coordination numbers.
2.) How to know which compound they want, since Ni2+ has options for 4 coordination and 6 coordination as well.
3.) Any reliable source to gain the info required to answer this.
4.) Doesn't Ni2+ form 4- Coordination compounds? [Ni(Nh3)4]2+?
