Ni ... ketone ya aldehyde deta hai rx no acid derivatives H20 and Br oxidises OH thats why they show but here if it oxidises its getting converted to ester
Areyyy Hemiacetal would convert to aldehyde due to basic medium followed by iodoform reaction.
Following Compounds give Iodoform Test
2 3 4 6 7 9 10
I was also thinking same but does alpha ketone decarboxylate.?
Shouldn't it be Beta keto ? @Rafe_Moin1
Yes Beta Ketone decarboxylate.
I think answer is wrong or they forgot to add -CH2 group in between in 9
Don't know reason

Why not 8? @Rafe_Moin1
After ester hydrolysis.
Ester does not give until heating
Is this there in @Supreeta_Sen notes?
Saw from there only:sweat_smile:
And what about that acid derivatives dont give iodoform point?
All give on heating if they have methyl part.
Just now only i got to know ester even give on heating so don't know about other.... btw i don't think so iit has ever asked like on heating something does this rxn or not so it won't come
Can you briefly tell what that link is saying?
Like does acetic acid show or not? No right.
Yup according to it acids shouldn't give positive iodoform test.
Mostly:heat karenge toh decarboxylation hoga. Uske baad jo bachega that will give the test.
Same thing won’t happen in case of simple carboxylic acids
